Why deny the obvious Child

Nice...

Had one of those, oh shuck's I forgot about that song and was so pleasantly surprised.

the obvious child- by Paul Simon, it's one of his song's when he had that group of afro-Brazilian dudes behind him railing and destroying drums with strong sounds and Riddem. (read rhythm)

Powerful beat, with soulful folk guitar and soft voice of Paul Simon... (i'm not that big of a fan of paul Simon, he's written a ton, but he has like 10 or so songs, that might be on a top 1,000 songs of all time kinda thing- all right maybe that's not true but I'm trying to give the dude some credit)

"thinking about a girl when i was young
n she said.
This days are true
these songs are ours
these tears are free
they'r crosses in the ballpark
they;r crosses in the ballpark"

well i'm accustomed to a smooth ride...

Anyways...

Nuggets of Freedom spill from the bountiful lands of the Physical Therapy world.

We have hired a second PT....she is pretty awesome from what I can tell, appears to garner significant skill, could be a spitfire self marketer without even trying. all she has to do is race. She was like Miss Oklahoma Runner in 2006- impressive resume, cool with a Rene witherspoon alabama accent.

interviewed in Pig Tails and jeans...

but we ended up chatting all on the floor sitting on theraballs and foam rollers...relaxed.

I can remember back when, I first came to the clinic and I chose to sit on a theraball and could help but think they looked at me then, like we should hire this guy cuz he's relaxed and chill... thought the same about this woman.

Means I should be able to lighten my load a bit, concentrate on some other aspects of PT, learn a lot more, and be able to take a guilt free vacation in December.

Best Ma Tai in Hawaii.

I might have referenced these Ma Tai's previously. At Halekulani, a hotel on the beach on Waikiki. Nice setting, free parking validation, some cool breezes, calmly calculated moves of the nearby hula girl whisper good vibrations. High pitched song echo melodic around a blanket of cashmere. You breathe, you sip, You end up retreating to the Jazz club which the name escapes me. Jazz club of course has strict dress code- so Since I have shorts on and a Legget and Mcall management shirt (yes everyone I still rock that shirt out) we are forced to the veranda.

Some new friends and a bite to eat a few famous Ma Tai all fresh ingredients sharp but nice finish. We end up at a club, dance the night away, I have to drive people home on the other side of life, but it's good, not sleeping I end up at a bar watching the Patriots beat the bills... go to bed, the day was good

More Halloween Pics

Halloween in the city of Turtles

87* and nice as all hell...fitting for a friday Halloween block party. Waikiki and downtown china town each have there own craziness....many many many revelers flock to the crowded streets.

At best, petite asian's wearing scant police officer or devil outfit's. Showing off what becomes of bodies exposed to exercise, sun and good genes, and off course good jeans.

At worst, no that is not a man in costume he really is homeless.

Somewhere in the middle all the Sarah Palin costumes...some looking really really Hot, I'm talking beyond Tina Fey hot. Others looking more on the lines of is Alicia Silverstone after the fall dressed as Sarah Palin?

A few ugly Barack's, I'm talking is that Willie Mcgee.

Great ones, like Count Crotchula from Family guy, he was a big hit with the ladies. Of course storm troopers, much of the Dark side, great like Maverick and Goose from Top Gun, people on stiltz, lots of crazy looking jokers who really freaked me out, interesting looking gothic french 16th century japanese madonna video throw aways. Lot of strange burlesgue, and road warrior/post apocalyptic attire.

Then there was Run DMC... we chose Downtown because on Friday's at Indigo's we have a resident DJ who spins all old school hip hop and R&B, it's like 1980 to 1996 in there it's very fun. And fitting as he took one look at us, and suddenly we hear "who's house. run's house"

We got a lot of people shouting at us, we tried to break dance a bit and stand a lot in our B boy stances, which worked well as well with the Ladies... insert creepy soudning voice here. Ladies...LAAAADDDDIEEEEEZ

Had a great time, paid for it. Paid for it all week. Have been sick like apparently the rest of this island. One more cough just give me one more cough.

Here are some pics and more pics of halloween.

We were Run DMC, with one missing from the original cast, at the clinic I was a celtic player.

All of My friends

I miss all of my friends and family today, not that it isn't a usual occurrence. But today more so, I have worked a ton, devoted a bunch of time to the job and career trying to really get this private practice to flourish which it is.

Here is a list of lyrics from a song by LCD soundsystem called all my friends.

The video follows the lyrics.

this song has saved me many many times on this adventure into the Hawaiian landscape. it's got this interesting building of tempo and emotion. I can remember early on when I just wanted to go home and leave this place, I wanted to give up- but felt I hadn't really given it an honest shot. It was rainy and cold on that day, my rain gear was full on, the sky continued to bleed on me then this song came up through the depths of the Iphone shuffle...and I was lighter on my feet and danced my way home from a long walk from a bus stop it was like an instant message from and back to all my friends and family at once. Passers-by probably wondered If I was part of the inebriated dually diagnosed populace, but me I was just thunderstruck by good emotions, great vibrations. I send them to you...on this November day. Enjoy.

Lyrics to All My Friends :
That's how it starts.
We go back to your house.
We check the charts,
And start to figure it out.

And if it's crowded, all the better,
because we know we're gonna be up late.
But if you're worried about the weather
then you picked the wrong place to stay.
That's how it starts.

And so it starts.
You switch the engine on.
We set controls for the heart of the sun,
one of the ways we show our age.

And if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up, if the sun comes up
and I still don't wanna stagger home.
Then it's the memory of our betters
that are keeping us on our feet.

You spent the first five years trying to get with the plan,
and the next five years trying to be with your friends again.

You're talking 45 turns just as fast as you can,
yeah, I know it gets tired, but it's better when we pretend.

It comes apart,
the way it does in bad films.
Except in parts,
when the moral kicks in.

Though when we're running out of the d#$#%
and the conversation's winding away.
I wouldn't trade one stupid decision
for another five years of lies.

You drop the first ten years just as fast as you can,
and the next ten people who are trying to be polite.
When you're blowing eighty-five days in the middle of France,
Yeah, I know it gets tired only where are your friends tonight?

And to tell the truth.
Oh, this could be the last time.
So here we go,
like a sail's force into the night

And if I made a fool, if I made a fool, if I made a fool
on the road, there's always this.
And if I'm sued into submission,
I can still come home to this.

And with a face like a dad and a laughable stand,
you can sleep on the plane or review what you said.
When you're drunk and the kids look impossibly tan
you think over and over, "hey, I'm finally dead."

Oh, if the trip and the plan come apart in your hand,
you can turn it on yourself you ridiculous clown.
You forgot what you meant when you read what you said,
and you always knew you were tired, but then,
where are your friends tonight?

Where are your friends tonight?
Where are your friends tonight?

If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight,
If I could see all my friends tonight

I'll try to attach the video

UN GATO NEGRO, black cat

Sloshing my way to work.

Enjoying the cool morning air, alright somewhat cool.

in the cobalt sky

lingering of street lights and phosphorescence

Breathing slow relaxed calm, my feet firmly elegantly hit the pavement.

My stride is eager and efficient

Hat crooked and cocked to the Left

Chin up and chest out

stopped dead in my tracks

Black cat crosses directly in front of me... I stop and ponder this problem? or is it opportunity...not sure.

"i don't believe in that stuff" half hearted lies that I force myself to swallow like children's cough syrup.

Fast forward, 30 minutes.

I stroll into my office, ready to kick some ass early in this morning. its 655 am on thursday.

I have fire in my belly and am motivated to finish the rest of my patients files in the computer system.

I turn on one computer

I type my code

a quick tug on some dirty laundry and a toss into the machine.

I turn around and tidy up the place

grasping a cane that leans against the wall like a loitering gypsy- I swing around and twirl the cane with decent force. A little hop step to my walk only adds to the energy building along the kinetic chain from feet in contact with floor all the way to my hand.

SWOOSH

THUD

I look at my hand, the rubber bottom of the cane is all that remains.

the cane traversed it's way across the room narrowly missing the xerox machine and crashing into a large 6 by 6 window pane..

Like Ice breaking on a lake.

Major impact zone, a spiders web of cracked glass, a crater and the peripheral damage.

only thing kept it from exploding was the Tint in place on the window...

the day became marginally better after that, but I cursed that dam kitty.

My favorite place: NA PUEO PARK

So this is about a 7 minute drive up Alewa Hts from my home.

This is where I will work out a bit, walk or jog or sprint around the mini 1/10 of a mile track...

amazing view, you see the Pali cliffs, punchbowl, diamond head and downtown Honolulu.. it is massive and spacious...it hits you like a brick when you get there.

It has a little jungle gym, but built for exercise and stretching... it's kinda nice and handy...

one problem is that in early evening's it becomes a dog park, so sometimes it gets annoying watching this guy handle everyone's dogs, he's like the swedish or norwegian version of the dog whisperer...

He's always there, is name is got to be Jan (Yahn) or something... all the chinese and japanese housewives pine over him and his interaction with these animals... he yells a bit, does some sort of dog sign language....and then he friggin throws tennis balls that are rigged to the special "i'm gonna play catch with spot" throwing device...that double as a convenient way to scoop up the tennis ball so you don't have to bend over..

yes I shouldn't make fun, cuz I'll need that device someday.

very gorgeous here in the morning, sun comes up in the distance over diamond head...
sunset is massive.

breeze blows strong here.

please stay tuned, had a very interesting day...recently

Let's just say that when a black cat crosses your path....choose but choose wisely your next steps...

and as a hint beware of falling shards of glass.

Gas Goes Down

So Gas dips below 4$

I could never complain anyway.

Scooter is beat up but runs good.

This is from the Garbage truck from outside our house...it has this giant humanoid claw that springs out from the crevasse of this beast and scoops up the farely large green honolulu trash containers parked for easy access outside people's homes. So this thing drives along and the hook crane thing just grabs these buckets; dumps em; then puts the bucket down and hauls onto the next. I found it fascinating enough to watch for quite some time, on my way walking to the bus stop on a cool october morning giving me the oh so tiny reminder of what the weather is like back in Mass when school comes back to session and you take your new pair of corduroys down the block to get on the yellowish green tank and go off to your local prison known as middle school...

Who my kidding, I liked it...except for the cold morning part.

A few more Susana's

Some more Pic's of me and Susana, I think she sent me some more but I've been lazy about downloading them.

this is at a place called Uncle Bo's....

like a trendy bar, eatery kinda place... service was atrocious, food was actually pretty good, except eveything that my roomates got was kinda bad...

I had like crab crusted Opa...which was quite nice...fresh fish is abundant.

the other pic is of me a way's back when I had the dreadlocks in my hair, you really can't see them because they are in cornrows back on my head. a few people asked to see...

The Day the Elastic's Died.... or how I learned rubber has meaning

No I did not pull this out of my annus while sitting at the firing range.

It is not a parasite from one of my deep jungle adventures into the cess that is China town, no not a tape worm.

Nor was it found in my underwear, just my outer wear.

I don this beauty's as some of you may know....Try to remind myself that if you stretch too far...you will break (stay within your limits with what you can do)...and that sometimes when they break they remind me that sometimes you need to grow expand break free....

So lately they have been breaking 3 nights in a row.

Been dreaming of

DIVING
BLACK WATER
SPIDERS
WEBS
DOLLS

some of the meaning, mostly to do with PT and putting way too much time in, but also with seeing some cool stuff coming out of the work we have been putting in and how this business is going well.

and should be set up to do some creative fun stuff..

yeah.

there is more to this, deeper meanings messages..can't or don't want to decipher them at the moment.

Whiskers on Kittens

Check out this beauty from the PT Clinic....never thought I would see a full one...I know where this one ends....

Once I was swimming in the Ala Moana Beach Park and came up from the depths with Scuba Mask on and was caught in a quick rain shower, I peaked behind my shoulder, ya know Looking for Great White's...and I see the brightest loudest clearest crispest rainbow ever...it felt like I was swimming in a bowl of lucky charms...or skittles cuz above all the saltwater I could taste the rainbow.

and Bob Marley played

"Rainbow Country"

Creekside BOOBI BAR...or BIKER BAR

We have gone to watch football on sunday mornings at this Biker Bar called the Creekside Lounge...sketchy little place, but it's quiet.

Except for the 2.5 hour span of crazy bikers who arrive midmorning to midday for a quick drink and carousing before continuing on their way.

Funny place...complete with oil paintings of bear breasted women of the late 70's and early 80's...yes some of my favorite classic looks...

We watched the Pats Niners at 10 am and walked across the street to get Pancakes with toasted macademia nut cream sauce.... O M G...so good.

As usual breakfast with a beer, and to make us look all tough and shit, I walked up and ordered a bourbon to start my sunday off right....or very wrong depending on how you looked at it..

Actually nice people some mild shit talkers and dick's that were super loud and ridiculous but the funniest thing.

at noon they put out this free spread...

out comes a bucket of steamy sweaty hot dogs in a canister and all the fixing's...tha't's right wash it all down with free dirty water dogs....

I ate one...the person besides me musters..."I Have been coming here for five years....and I have not ate one hotdog" not sure how to react to that one...

gastroenteritis and I'm out.

Lots of leather and wannabe Hell's Angel types but a really ecclectic mix. Best thing, nobody there most of the time and they are more than accomadating with the satellite TV to get all the games, started to watch the Sox Angels game... but too many dirty water dogs...too many drinks...it was like 2 in the afternoon, we retreated to the house to watch DVR of game.

Building the Better Gordon

Focus
Consistency
Decisiveness
methodical
tenacious
relaxed
content
balanced

these are the words I have lacked in the past month.

I have failed in many mini promises to myself, there is only one thing left to do- to end all this pain.

TRY AGAIN. LOL...

Lazy or overcaffeinated hyper uselessness.... been a struggle to get in the middle, my life suffers for this.

it's like let's go back to plan A: build a better me.

my mind is filled with resentment of cliched self help and motivational marketeers.
Systems of time managment, getting things done, living the life you always dreamed...live in balance....

VOMIT.

right now that's how I'm feeling. I'm enjoying this negative attitude for the moment though. cuz I know why it's there.

lost the buoys
the anchors
the benches/ the goal
the setting exercises
the centering applications
the voices of reason both external and internal.

it forces me awake, to write on this computer.

Reaffirm goals aspirations and such.

Just trying to be happy and live a good life....some of the happy things that lead to excitement can quickly lead to unhappyness. Bad habits lately and not taking advantage of life...

An Aside.

that is always an internal argument I have. the whole wasted potential wasted opportunity thing...

I ask myself am I taking advantage of this.
it's simple to answer when your eating a big ol pancake
but when I'm riding on the scooter from another planet... I forget,
I remember, I gaze upon sun splashed mountains and lush green valleys' I chase the cloud cover with my mind...
then of course I clench my hands hard around the hand breaks and live to write this blog.
Was telling a few friends I didn't want to go out this weekend, told them I wanted to just chill, didn't feel like drinking wasting time. they rebuttle with... ten years from now your never gonna remember the night you decideded to stay in and get some extra rest, or that you woke up and got into work early.

I had to agree with them.

I hated to agree.

But then I thought more of it, although this is largely true, there are other things, bigger fish to fry, broader horizons, shit to do, things to accomplish. So in response my mind chimes...

Delayed Gratification
Working hard so you can play hard.

and then the Red Sox make the playoffs and it becomes a bigger deal than it has to be... but I'm from there, I eat, drink, breath, and shit baseball... I spend mornings listen to WEEI on demand. A monkey wrench into the small insignificant daily musings of this child.

and in the words of Lloyd bridges in airplane...."I guess I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue"

Lonely October

It feels lonely today... it is a faraway day.

I have been working hard, but not productive enough to make my life easier, I'm caught up in the excitement the goal planning and the strategy of everything and not caught up enough in the nose to the grindstone get the work done sort of thing.

Been avoiding friends a wee bit, to try to accomplish things, I guess I have, but I feel like all I have done is fill my head with more information to sort out, and of course more info leads to more questions leads to more info leads to more questions.

But i'm getting there, remember to breath.

read a study today in the Journal of Physical therapy discussing the importance of breathing as an integral approach to a solid mind/body PT regime, sort of intersting, lots of truth's in the article. I notice some really odd breathing patterns, and I also can notice a certain anxiety breathing pattern- short shallow suspended at times. That is why on the treatment table sometimes during some techniques I can notice really big breathing and associated tissue responses simultaneously.

but that is another story.

here is another couple of pics of me and susana, sorry for the previously erroneous spelling of her name.

also a pic I just got from my brother,

a great game we went to at yankee stadium, (watched the sox beat mariano rivera in ninth for the win on the road) that was when I had Dreadlocks for 16 days. they were pulled back and set into corn rows on this day.

yes you can say it, straight thuggin, as my friend Benji likes to say.

Hawaii the most dangerous place in the world?

Alright of course it is not.

However I live next door to one of the rescue workers who is always extremely busy, saving lives or looking for bodies.

Domestic Violence is pretty big here, sometimes ending tragically,

People get lost a few times a year on hikes and are never found, probably 1 every 2 months or so, People drown, Helicopters go down like a few times a year. Accidents happen here all the time, I treat many of the injured in car accidents, People are attacked by sharks.

So this year we have had like 4 or 5 shark attacks, not something you want to think about,

One of my friends wants me to surf with him early in the morning and he mentions things like "well I need some help out there, ya know look out for sharks and stuff."

Supposedly this year is a big increase in the mating spawning breeding of sharks in the area, I guess the sharks realize how romantic Hawaii is as well.

Just something interesting, your not going to hear of the dangers of a place for tourism sake, the homeless are really the last thing I'm worried about. I have my head on a swivel on that scooter and try to anticipate everyone being a bad driver, but I still manage to breathe take it in and look at the georgeous skies and mountain ranges and rainbows.

Also I think I may have posted it before but this pick is from the Urinal inside the Irish Bars in ChinaTown, Very funny, Yank this go Sox! so it is fun pissing on this sign, reminds me of a playoff game at fenway between the Yankees and Sox in which all of the urinals had Yankee Hats in them, ah a very very satisfying Pee.

Sorry to see Yankee Stadium Go, sense that at least some part of the magic may go with it, but just like Jason Vorhees, I can never think the Yankees are dead.

More strange Fruits

Dragon fruit,

Some strange dead shell of a fruit found along the ground, I think it actually came from a meteorite and something that spells doom for our race might be on the loose. (can you say cloverfield anyone)

These are a couple pictures of recent patients of mine, I think I left them on the electrical stimulation machine too long, they seem- I dunno- emaciated a bit. Good news for me it is easier to identify skeletal misalignment's.

I TIRED OF THESES SNAKES on this GOD-DAM PLANE!

SO I ran into my old friend Samuel L Jackson on the fine streets of China Town late the other not.

I begged him to delivery some lines...

He told me I was one charming mother fucking pig.

and that I would soon know his name was the lord or something like that.

Then I saw him begging for change and wondered if he was preparing for his next role.

Shortly after this picture, I witness him in a back alley with one of those large Chinese style barbeque ducks in his hands, it's carcass and been ripped clean of meat except for it's head, I shouted.

I'm Tired of these Ducks on this God-dammned plane,

his reply was to eat the head of the duck.

I turned in horror and heard bones crack.

when I looked back he had silver hair and he was fighting Hayden Christianson and keeping him from escaping through a wormhole in the back of a chinese restaurant.
