HALONA COVE
So I scamper and trek and hop and jump and basically crawl down this cliff to get to Halona Cove.
It is soooo frickin cool. It is like a 25 foot long beach...with crazy crazy crazy waves.
I'm talking "when the big man was killed it's blood was on the trees" kinda terrible waves.
But oh my golly it is fun. I only waded in because I never know and there are jagged black volcanic rock (alright it wasn't volcanic but it sounds so much better) the waves come in at all angles and the ground beneath you is taken away-so your constantly shifting and bracing and back peddling and gliding in order to keep the perverbially WIDE BASE OF SUPPORT.
So your kinda like performing defensive drills on a basketball court as you enter the small cove. Waves hit and it is sooo warm, it's so much warmer than most other areas I've swam in. So I Frolick for a while let wave after giant wave collide with my translucent white bodice...which actually is turning some shade of brown on some areas....well actually my nose is bright red and I fear I may have to start wearing that zinc oxide stuff on my nose like Fast times at ridgmont high.
So two interesting things while I was there besides the battle with the sea.
1) this young girl (early teens-high teens? who knows I'm pretty dumb when it comes to that, hence why I am a wanted man in some northern states and fully accepted in most backwards southern states) so this girl she is like a beacon of sweetness for humanity yes a BSH and she runs down to the cove jumps in, jumps out and then proceeds to gather various pieces of trash and flotsum and jetsom and places them gently into an overflowing trash recepticle. Very nice, very nice indeed. It inspired me to return to the water and urinate, alright I'm just kidding. I was sorta moved by this person.
Then this other (had to be european dude based on the way he wore his banana hammock on the beach) Well this guy, I'll call Gruber...or Grube for short.
Well Grube leaves his wife and dog on the beach, assembles his cheap snorkle gear and ventures towards the water. He looks serious, he is up for the challenge. I'm on these rocks above the cove and basking in the sun and feeling the warm salty splash of sea foam spray. Well when I see this, I'm like "he is not serious is he" this is like a giant wave pool with rip tide. Well his wife starts to old back his dog who by now is losing it. The dog is yelping and pleading with Grube not to go. I mean this is out of a Brian Depalma film the amount of drama going on.
YELP YELP YELP YELP YELP YELP YELP RUFF RUFF RUFF
I like "dam straight little dog" your daddy is crazy.
The Grube pays no attention.
So I sorta meander down the cliff because I'm thinking if this guy is going in there full force I might need to help, like is was a episode of bay watch except called COVE WATCH and I was probably Pamela Anderson Moobs flopping all around.
Well he goes rushing in there puts on his gear, I'm thinking he is smart. But stupid.
Well I watch him get bounced around like a pinball then he retreats....it was hysterical though every time he went under his dog would go nuts.
He must of got a good view of the surf swirling but I really wonder if he thought he could go out that far, because he only made it to about as far as I could go and I'm double his size.
Anyways a really really amazing spot and like I said, famous for that film love scene. My mother remembers it well. She lika the steamy romance scenes.
mahalo for reading.

Hey Dave!
You Bastard! Beaches look beautiful!I would only go knee deep in those waves too! Look like they have the undercourant of the west coast of Aruba. The natives say they suck you up! Thanks I'll pass and stay with the calmer waters!
U are making me totally jealous right now as I freeze my ass off in Connecticut!I would take the burnt nose! Hate you, but in a nice way! Glad to see you are enjoying some of Hawaii before you head of to the grind of working! And by the way, the view from the nursing home in Hawaii is a hell of alot better than the view of the unemployment office we have!
Take care, sunscreen and keep entertaining!
Doreen
