Someone to greet me in my new Home
So I get the keys, pack up my stuff and try to get in my rental car.
I can't get the key out. I can't start the car. I panic and fuss with everything.
I can do nothing. I'm on a hill so i suspect I might have enacted the kill switch in the rental car, glad I turned down the insurance with the road side assistance.
Defeated I finally call the number on the thrifty car form.
Nice lady from Dirty South answers...I tell her "I just can't get my key out" She tells me to make sure the care is completely in Park.
"thanks I tell her, I'm an Idiot" she says "half the people who rent cars ask the same question so your not alone"
I was treating an automatic like a standard and had the parking break on and the car in drive.
So anyways I get to my beautiful new place.
Nice little dead friend in my room.... me thinks it Ironic that we just talked about this... (Tracy you were right, they were lying!)
So anyways I get it setup and have a pretty chill night after running around all day.
Here are some pics.
By the way in the kitchen the stove exhaust comes up from the flat table when you press a button... Telling you it's a high tech kitchen.
Also they have those drawers/cabinets like Rachel Ray the ones that open out and have shelf access on either side. They are so convenient. Lots of frosted glass on the cabinets.
My new friend mike makes a salad with Papaya seed dressing....pretty good actually kinda like a creamy Italian with perhaps a hint of sweetness.
Making my way around the city more, have more interviews the next two days, just in case the other job falls through and perhaps pick up some side work as well.
Thanks everyone for reading and thinking of me.
Def, felt a little homesick the other day. I know how is that possible. Well after seven days it kinda set in that this is not really a vacation and I'm staying for a while and there is a lot of unknowns right now. I was feeling a bit stressed... then once I set up my bed I felt better and I used the Pillow Case that the Haven made for me...So last night I drooled on your signatures.
Also a little sad about not seeing the Super Bowl at home...but very very glad the pats made it and many of my NY friends are already talking shit.

Hi Dave!
Glad to hear that you are still alive and hope your problem with the boys in the south is clearing up!
We all look forward to reading your adventures, kinda like watching a soap opera, we look forward to the next episode! I love your new apartment and I am totally jealous of that kitchen, YOU BASTARD!(thought you might miss hearing me say that!) LOL
Take care of yourself, and sleep with the Haven pillow over your head to keep out the roommates!(the brown crawly ones!)
Miss ya!
Doreen
By the way, are you taking your Aspen?
Davit,
don't feel bad about being homesick, that is totally normal, even if you are surrounded by palm trees, waves and warm ocean breezes. ahhhh, i'm soooo jealous. wow, i'm actually very surprised that you went for the big apartment, but that will be comfortable at least & you can have some room to spread out & maybe get inspired. i loved the picture of the little porch/deck w/ the papon chair (or whatever those cool round chairs are called). maybe once things get settled your writing will continue, i feel inspired just thinking about it. so cockaroaches, huh...well i guess even paradise has a slight down side. i would like to give you the old, "they are more afraid of you than you are of them" speech, but given that they are supposedly the only creatures that would survive a nuclear attack that would end civilization as we know it, i don't know if that advice is true. hahahaha! i will call you when the superbowl is on & the upside is...you get to spend your birthday in FUCKIN HAWAII!!!! that is so much better than any super bowl or b-day here! lots of love & misses, i know we'll talk soon.
G
Nice spot!
