Haiku Gardens

So I awoke early one morning and decided, this this shall be the day.

This shall be the day Dave beats the Pali, the Pali I'm referring to (which I think means cliff's or mountain side or something) is the hwy, which crosses over the mountains from near where I live and to the windward side of Oahu, specifically kaneohe where I have worked at a Nursing home.

So I decide, Fuck it. I'm going for the gold and taking my Moped, scooter, ga-rider, over the mountain. I figure once I'm on it won't be too bad and I should be able to keep up a decent speed. There is no shoulder, There is a 40mph minimum. It's a little whindy SP? and Windy for that matter.

So I gear it up at like 6 am on a saturday figuring that I'll beat anytype of traffic on this day and this hour.

I get to my scooter and My sketchy neighbor I'll call Mr. Skinny the dog hater and bird catcher. I think there is a name for that in Hawaiian but I'm not sure I can pronounce it.

So Mr. Skinny the dog hater and bird catcher, I have seen him twice. He has a place next to ours on the bottomfloor, I have seen him only twice. He has a trap set up in his yard which I think I wrote about before. He alwasy tells me scary moped stories and gives me cryptic messages, like be ware of the slippery road.

Internally I punch him in the face with bitter dialogue that goes something like this.
"oh yeah, beware of the dog with an itchy ass"
"maybe if you let your dog in the house instead of chained up on a moldy infested couch, I wouldn't have to watch the dog try to eat it's own ass and drag is ass across the floor constantly in order to relieve some sort of massive itch."
"or yeah thanks buddy for the fortune cookie, can't wait to try to bring this sucker up to 55mph while your words of wisdom are stuck bouncing in my head"

In reality I heed his warnings strongly and try to appreciate his slow oddity like he has just taken a few bong hits with his morning Stein of something....really it's not a coffee cup it's a stein.

"be ware of the slippery Road"....in a cheech and chong kinda just had novacaine injected into his tongue kinda drippy droop voice.

So I go, I rally that Scooter and kick some ass on the first little leg, OH NO!

NO
NO
NO
NO the last light before the big hill and it turns red. I will never be able to keep my speed up now.
shit.

well there went nothing, I was pushing that Scooter barely making 40mph and I made it, and through the tunnels in the mountain, which were so cool, the wind whipped like crazy making me steady myself and the hollow echoes and cries of the wind were ocean like in the waves of sound that touched my ears.

Then it's like downhill and full of curves, Whew!

Made it.

So I search around and finally find my destination, Haiku Gardens...beautiful garden in the back of this restaurant. A pond a few pathways, fragrant mosquito filled stagnant pools of water but very cool. I think they have wedding here and take pictures....very tranquill place with lots of bird song.
