Happy Chinese New Year

So last Saturday we all went out for the a meeting of University of Hawaii's UH Veg-club. Yeah!... Vegetarians. So I live with one Vegetarian and I met up with 5 Vegetarians and Vegans. We had Chinese New Year dinner family style.... Tofu was flowing that night. Pretty cool, the highlight was the hot chilli oil a rich smoky paste that was tremendous on rice, also the Buta Fish was awesome even though I think I was just eating Tofu and it was hysterical to eat boneless spare ribs that were some kinda soy product, but they were frickin good.

the group was interesting some sci fi geeks, a unique blend of ages 21-44 so it was interesting.
I have been invited to cook with them. And actually hang out and play some card games. They speak of a game like Magic the gathering a fantasy card game that is called Che Geek and is a total spoof of it.

the premise is that each player is a roomate in a home and we are all vying to be the biggest slacker in the apartment, I figure I have such experience and could lend my skills well.

Actually, It is funny those of you who have lived with me, may not recognize my cleanliness, I have been cleaning like a bandit, I think I just love being in the kitchen and of course I haven't been working.

I dunno maybe somewhere along the line, I'm growing up a little more, I feel closer to myself than ever and pretty confident about the direction I'm heading.

Well after the dinner, we went to the streets during chinese new year. there are many lions (which I thought were dragons) well the lions are made up of two men dancing underneath them and they come and dance for you if you feed them money for luck. There were many vendors, bands, china lights, and lions of all sizes....some had little kids in the suit and they were so fricking funny. Some were like dancing crazy hip hop crunk style. Others balance atop those poles like a ninja and jumped high into the air and released a confetti of blue and red...of course I thought it symbolized the coming Patriot Win, but of course it was the wrong blue and red.

Well it was cool, they were making a crazy sweet sugarcane drink by grinding big long pieces of sugar cane and extracting the liquid.
